Introduction

The Heinrich Böll Foundation (HBF) is committed to creating and maintaining a working environment that is based on the principles of human rights, social justice and respect for human beings, regardless of their age, origin, class, cultural or gender identity, sexual orientation or political opinion – both at its headquarters and international offices as well as when cooperating with partners, volunteers, and other associated personnel.  

As part of this commitment, the HBF does not tolerate sexual exploitation, abuse, harassment, or sexualized violence of any kind. We consider this as a shared responsibility and common task amongst all of our staff members and affiliated partner organizations and individuals with whom we work with.

This page provides information on our Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment Policy which is applicable to all HBF Cape Town office employees; consultants; interns and volunteers; partners, their employees and beneficiaries; contractors and other associated persons (hereinafter referred to as HBF people and associated personnel). It also contains vital contact information should you wish to report any suspicions or concerns about sexual exploitation and abuse or harassment involving hbs people and associated personnel.

 

Reporting

Anyone having suspicions or concerns about sexual exploitation and abuse or harassment involving HBF people and associated personnel, such as partners, must report this either verbally or in writing. All complaints will be handled with the strictest of confidence. All persons affected by an allegation management process, including but not limited to the survivor(s), witnesses as well as the subject of complaint will be treated with dignity and respect. Support will be provided where possible.
