Caroline Peters

Caroline Peters is a South African feminist, human rights defender, survivor-advocate and community activist with over three decades of experience advancing gender justice and combating gender-based violence. She is the Founder and Executive Director of the Callas Foundation, a grassroots organisation based on the Cape Flats in Cape Town, where her work connects gender-based violence prevention and response with food security, community care, access to justice and women's empowerment. In 2026, Caroline was appointed to South Africa's inaugural National Council on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide. Her activism is rooted in lived experience and a deep commitment to amplifying the voices of marginalised women and communities. She believes that food justice, gender equality and collective care are inseparable struggles in building a more just and equitable society.
