The continued Marginalisation of Women living with HIV in South Africa

The following is a submission by our partners, Her Rights Initiative and the Women's Legal Centre, in collaboration with Probono.org and the Sexual Rights Initiative, to the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) ahead of their 80th Session, taking place in October 2021.

The submission highlights key areas for concern such as the continuation of state-sanctioned forced and coerced sterilisation of women living with HIV/AIDS as well as the intersection of violence against women and HIV status. The submission provides a number of key inputs for policy and practice change for consideration by the Committee on its concluding observations to South Africa.
