On the 9th Of March 2016, the Heinrich Boell Foundation in partnership with the World Wide Fund for Nature, the Centre for Renewable and Sustainable Energy Studies and the Goedgedacht Forum held a technical workshop on the prudence of South Africa's nuclear power aspirations. The workshop was attended by key stakeholders in the energy sector arguing both for and against the South African government's decision to expand nuclear power generation on the basis that it will improve energy security and cover the shortfall in meeting the country's electricity demand.
